ACUITY was founded in 1992 to develop laser distance sensors and laser measurement systems for industrial and OEM use. Today our sensors are used in applications from steel casting to paper production to medical imaging, from crane control to micron-level part and surface inspection. Acuity is a product line of Schmitt Measurement Systems, Inc. Schmitt Measurement Systems is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schmitt Industries, Inc.
Schmitt Industries : Schmitt Industries designs, manufactures and markets distinct types of precision manufacturing process measurement and control systems. SBS automatic balancing systems for rotating machinery are used by many of the world's leading automotive, aerospace and bearing manufacturers. The non-contact measurement laser systems that SMS manufactures and produces, are targeted to high-tech manufacturers worldwide and ensure that silicon wafers and computer hard disks meet exacting standards for surface microroughness. The company currently has employees in three international locations: Pfungstadt, Germany; Coventry, England; and at its corporate headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
