Syntonics is a specialty defense electronics company that develops tactical RF-over-fiber optic communications systems, unique antennas, and advanced GPS holdover clocks for land, sea and space applications. The company also provides engineering services to customers in the aerospace and defense industries. We are dedicated to providing specialty products that deliver quality and reliability to U.S. Military, NASA, and industrial customers.
Syntonics was founded in 1999 as a "technology transfer" spin-off of the The Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. Syntonics is a Small Business with these credentials:
DCAA-approved government accounting system
ISO 9001:2000 registered Quality Management System
DSS-supervised DOD security clearances
RF-over-Fiber Optic Communications: FORAX (Fiber Optic Remote Amplifier Extension) links as many as four tactical radios to their amplifier/antenna sets at distances over one kilometer. The full-featured FORAX-LOS handles all VHF, UHF and satcom bands and military waveforms from 30-512 MHz. The smaller FORAX-SC2 model handles just the UHF satcom channels. Antennas Syntonics develops unique and innovative custom antennas for military applications. PICO Advanced Clock With DOD's increased reliance on GPS for precision timekeeping, the need for good holdover timekeeping during signal outages is increased. Syntonics' PICO advanced clock improves timekeeping when a GPS signal is available and provides holdover timekeeping comparable to a rubidium atomic clock after GPS signal loss. PICO is significantly more reliable and robust than any competing holdover clock. Space-Qualified Oscillators For missions requiring a small, relatively simple custom frequency reference, Syntonics' PXO4000 line meets the need.
