History : Acme Abrasive and Hanson Company were founded in the early 1950's to produce custom-designed resin grinding wheels for markets that they still serve today. Growth has been steady thru the years, with plant expansions and finally the merging of the two businesses in 1999. The combined operation has produced a very strong mix of product and people able to meet constantly changing customer requirements.

Manufacturing Process : Acme/Hanson grinding wheels are produced on equipment specially designed to give precise control of each step in the mix-press-bake-finish process. Presses ranging from 50 to 3, 000 ton capacity are used to assure uniform product density. Ovens are driven by state-of-the-art computerized controls. Speed testing is done on equipment utilizing precise control under high horsepower loads.

Quality Systems : Quality is only as good as the people and systems making the product, and at Acme/Hanson we have the best. We manufacture to the highest quality standards and are capable of meeting your quality system requirements. Quality audits are conducted at programmed intervals; control is maintained throughout the manufacturing and customer relations process.

Safety : Acme/Hanson grinding wheels, when used correctly on properly maintained and guarded machines, are a safe cutting tool. However, if they are misused, abused or inappropriately applied they can have a very dangerous potential. Always use the right wheel for the job. Safety booklets and literature covering a wide range of applications and the ANSI B7.1 Standard for the Use, Care and Protection of Abrasive Wheels are available free by writing, e-mailing or calling Acme/Hanson. Custom Products Delivered On Time : Acme/Hanson wheels do not come from a catalog, as "one-size-fits-all". We engineer a grinding wheel to the particular application in your plant. Each customer has unique needs and w develop custom wheel solutions. We get it there on time, every time, at competitive prices.

Raw Materials/Bonds : Acme/Hanson formulates products with the full range of conventional abrasives, including high-productivity premium materials like Cubitron, Norzon and green silicon carbide. We routinely stock a variety of abrasives in 4 - 320 grit to provide a quick response to special applications. Our variety of resin and rubber bond materials allows us to produce a full range of products from soft metallurgical testing wheels to the hardest steel mill conditioning wheels.

The Future - Change : Changing customer requirements, demands for greater quality, lower grinding costs, better control and faster delivery. These are driving abrasive applications to higher horsepower grinding machines, complex new robotic grinders, further computerization of grinder controls and new machine types. Acme/Hanson is engaged in customer partnerships to produce the new wheels required for these changes.
