PROMARMATURA has been exporting its products to 20 countries throughout the world ( Canada, Norway, Germany, India, Iran, Vietnam, China, Syria, Turkey, Cuba, Uruguay, Czech, etc.) for a long time.
The line accessories and insulators have been standardized. The studu of many years' experience of operation of power transmission lines in the USSR and methods of production of this equipment on the plants of "Promarmatura" were used as the basis for this standardization, with due account for recommendations of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and prospects on the development of power transmission lines in the Russia.
All fittings and insulators are produced by PO "Promarmatura" (last VPO "Souzelektrosetizoliatsia").
The history of domestic manufacture accessories and insulators for overhead power transmission lines began in October 1933. By the resolution of the college of Narckomtyazhprom a technical office on production and marketing of insulators and accessories "Armset" was organized and The Slavyanski Insulators Plant (SAIZ) was given to it.
During the Great Patriotic War SAIZ was destroyed and construction of the overhead transmission lines in the eastern regions of the country was realized by means of dismantling the lines which were used before. In 1944 after the reconstruction of SAIZ about 60 thousand suspension insulators were produced.
In post-war period there was the increasing demand for insulators and accessories. So the country had to import the insulators from abroad. That's why in 1947 designing and building in the South Ural were begun (Yuzhnouralski Accessories and Insulators plant (YuAIZ)). In 1955 Hartsinski foundry was incorporated with the trust "Armset" to supply SAIZ and YuAIZ with cast.
In 1963 manufacturing capacity increased twice. There was established own scientific base (Central Research Laboratory) on insulators and accessories.
The same year the trust "Armset" was reorganized in the trust "Electrosetizolyatsia". A new experimental-production insulators plant on the base of Lvovski(LIZ) brick factory was founded in 1964 . After the building this plant LIZ was put into operation in 1964.
In 1970 the Special Engineering and Design Office with the experimental base and the laboratories was organized. In 1970-75 Tovarcovski high-voltage accessories plant (TVAZ) and Novoseltsevski line and station accessories pilot plant (NAIZ) were included as the components of the trust. And unique test equipment for 750kV was put into operation.
In 1980 the trust was reorganized in "Souzelektrosetizoliatsia", All-Russian Production Corporation (APC) and in 1981 was decorated with an order of Red Labor Banner.
In 1990 the trust "Souzelektrosetizoliatsia" was reorganized in PO "Promarmatura"
In 1991 after the dissolution of the USSR in Russia and in the Corporation "Promarmatura" there were only three plants which were producing insulators and accessories : TVAZ, YuAIZ and NAIZ.
To 1999 the biggest part of line fittings which were produced at the Ukrainian plants was developed by the Corporation. There was organized production of line fittings and high-voltage insulators at the plants of Corporation such as "Tula's Accessories and Insulators Plant", j. S. C., "Moscow's ZVA", j. S. C., "Novosibirsk's Accessories and Insulators Plant", j. S. C., "Insulators and Fittings plant" in Electrostil-city, etc.
Nowadays "Promarmatura" is a highly-developed corporation which included the experience of all the structures of this branch and set its object to produce the equipment of high quality for the Power Economy of all power systems and departments.
