FOX-VPS was formed in January 2004 from the amalgamation of two well established companies; The Fox Engineering Co. (Bisley) and Visual Planning Systems. Established in 1939 and 1946 respectively the company now forms part of a small group employing 65 people with an annual turnover of approximately ?4 million.

FOX-VPS manufacture precision machined components, castings, & finished assemblies to a variety of different markets. We also design & manufacture specialist hydraulic cylinders and fire fighting equipment for a global market.

FACILITIES: The company is now established in a modern purpose built factory equipped with the latest machine tool and computer technology with state of the art metrology and manufacturing control systems.

Products :
We provide manufacture precision machined components, castings, & finished assemblies to a variety of different markets. We also design & manufacture specialist hydraulic cylinders and fire fighting equipment for a global market. MAIN PRODUCTS & SERVICES :- Machining Repair & Overhaul Mechanical Assemblies Hydraulic Cylinders Castings Fire Fighting Equipment Mechanical Design MACHINING :- We offer CNC precision milling and turning using a range of multiaxis machines and a highly skilled workforce, and are continuously investing in new equipment and the latest technology. * Normal Batch size upto 5000 * Milled Parts Upto 1660mm long * Turned Parts Upto 1000mm dia & 2000mm long * Bar feed Capacity upto 80mm dia * Work piece weight upto 1000kg * Materials: ferrous, non ferrous & plastics * CAD CAM System CASTING :- Sand and gravity die castings upto 200kg and investment casting upto 20kg. Typical batch sizes 1-500. Materials used include aluminium, phosphor bronze, and other yellow metals. Full spectrographic melt analysis, dye penetrant NDT, x-ray, and mechanical testing is available as well as in-house heat treatment. FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT :- We have been producing fire fighting monitors and foam proportioning systems for over 20 years. We manufacture the Chubb monitor as well as a range of our own derivative products. As well as refurbishing existing units we offer a full spares support service. HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS :- We produce a range of standard and special application hydraulic cylinders for uses such as foundation piling rigs, fork lift trucks, tunneling machines, drilling rigs, presses, waste compactors, aircraft ground handling equipment and container port cranes. We cater for bore sizes upto 300mm, stroke lengths upto 6000mm and working pressures of upto 700 Bar, as well as refurbishing units and supplying spare parts. ADDITIONAL SERVICES :- The following processes are carried out inhouse in support of our main product and service activities :- X-Ray Crack Detection Spectrographic Analysis Heat Treatment Welding Broaching Thread Rolling The following processes are outsourced in substantial volumes in support of our main product and service activities :- Wire Erosion Grinding Case Hardening / Nitriding Anodising / Electroplating Painting Gear Cutting Honing DESIGN :- FOX-VPS offers a design service to our customers to help them reduce costs and production times as well as delivering new functionality. Our design engineers have over 30 years experience in the hydraulic, mechanical handling and production engineering field. We can import and export most formats including DWG, DXF, DRG and IGES. FIRE MONITOR :- Based on the original Chubb Fire specifications, FOX-VPS has redesigned the 6" Monitor to give enhanced performance and improvements over existing models as well as a reduction in materials and production time making the unit more cost effective. FOX-VPS has added additional systems like automatic parking, hydraulic extension unit (Pop-Up) and locking system. INDUSTRIAL / SPECIALIST APPLICATION :- FOX-VPS design specialist equipment and components for our clients from technical specification or from existing products that may require updating or modifying. PRODUCTION PLANNING & DESIGN :- Using computers to model prototypes before manufacture; we can save time and reduce costs. This image shows an experimental impeller. Castings :- SAND AND GRAVITY DIE CASTINGS: FOX-VPS has been supplying sand and gravity die castings for over thirty years through our sister company EDL, combining traditional process skills with continuous improvements in technology. A broad customer base is served across a diverse range of markets with the capability of producing high quality components, finish machined if required.
