Munters is the world leader in moisture control with products and services for dehumidification, humidification and cooling of air. Operations are divided into three geographic regions ? Europe, Americas and Asia. Manufacturing and sales are carried out via the Group's own companies in more than 25 countries. The Group has 3, 036 employees and net sales of SEK 4, 216 million. Munters is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
History : The company Munters was founded in 1955 by the famous Swedish inventor Carl Munters together with Marcus Wallenberg and two other persons.
Carl Munters (1897-1989), was a successful Swedish inventor and entrepreneur. The technology on which the company's products and services are based is the result of his extensive research in basic principles of heat and humidity transfer. The initial operation was conducted at a laboratory in Carl Munters' home in Stockholm, where he worked with a small group of fellow researchers.
Carl Munters : Carl Munters initial idea was to develop an air-conditioning system based on the use of evaporative cooling and dehumidification. The development of the key components of the system were the desiccant wheel and the evaporative pads. Shortly after Carl Munters retired from active management in the early 1970s, Munters was acquired by the Incentive Group. During the 1970s, the expansion was continued into new markets through subsidiaries and licensees. The company changed it's strategy at the end of the 1970s as some of the patents began to expire. The range of products and applications was gradually extended and the distribution was expanded to most parts of Europe, North America and Japan, largely through licensing arrangement with third parties.
In the 1980?s most of the licencees were acquired. A global moisture control service business (MCS) was started 1985. In the 1990?s Munters expanded and became an international Group with own organization in over 25 countries and manufacturing in over 14 countries. The business was centered around The Humidity Expert theme. Munters AB was floated on the Stockholm stock exchange 1997. Carl Munters died 1989.
