Through our patented K-Fuel? process we're transforming abundant U.S. Reserves of sub-bituminous coal and lignite into clean, affordable, efficient energy supplies. The K-Fuel? process employs heat and pressure to refine low-Btu, high-moisture coal into a high-Btu, low-moisture fuel. The process also removes mercury, SO2 and NOX, creating energy efficient, low emission coal. This pioneering pre-combustion technology creates a cleaner-burning coal, essentially an "unleaded gasoline" equivalent for power plants, helping power plants to comply with environmental standards while ensuring production efficiency. Our pre-combustion K-Fuel? technology raises the Btu-value of sub-bituminous coal and lignite while simultaneously removing significant amounts of mercury, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide. K-Fuel? is the only pre-combustion commercial product to reduce mercury emissions from sub-bituminous coal and lignite. K-Fuel? pre-combustion technology applies heat and pressure to boost the energy efficiency of sub-bituminous coal and lignite by up to 30%, in the process removing more than 70% of the mercury and up to 30% of the sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide. These reductions are achieved from coal that is already low in mercury and sulfur. Test burns conducted by third parties have proven K-Fuel's clean-burning qualities.
