Pacific Scientific Company is a multi-faceted division of the Danaher Corporation involved in the support of aerospace and defense industry customers. The division was founded in 1919. Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Co. (PS/EMC) was established in 1975 to manufacture a wide range of pyrotechnic devices in support of fire suppression systems on commercial and military aircraft.
In April 1993, Pacific Scientific acquired the business of Unidynamics/Phoenix and consolidated the activities with the Energy Systems Division. As a result of the acquisition, the new division was renamed Energy Dynamics Division. In 1998, the name changed to the current Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Co. (PS/EMC) after being acquired by Danaher.
PS/EMC acquired the Aerospace Division of Special Devices Incorporated (SDI) in May 2001 and Quantic Industries (QI) August 2001. In July 2003, PS/EMC acquired McCormick Selph, Inc. The combined company offers a very strong and comprehensive product line.

PS/EMC has many existing products to meet your needs. However, we have the in-house capabilities to design, test and produce new products based on your unique requirements. INITIATORS: PS/EMC is the recognized industry leader for initiators. We have qualified initiators, from MIL-DTL-23659D to MIL-STD-1512, in a wide range of output pressures and configurations. CARTRIDGE ACTUATED DEVICES - CADs: We make an array of cartridge actuated devices (CADs) including pin pullers, separator systems, cutters, piston actuators, explosive bolts, frangible nuts, and wing actuators. Whatever your requirement for CADs, PS/EMC has expertise to make those requirements into production deliveries. PROPELLANT ACTUATED DEVICES - PADs: PS/EMC can characterize and synthesize any pyrotechnic blend allowing us to tailor propellants to the exact characteristics required by the customer. PS/EMC manufactures a variety of propellant actuated devices (PADs) including gas generators, attitude control motors, and small rocket motors. MOTOR IGNITERS/ IGNITION SAFETY DEVICES: As the largest supplier of rocket motor igniters in the world and the broadest range of qualified arm-fire/ignition safety devices, PSEMC can meet your needs for reliable ignition. ORDNANCE SYSTEMS: Our Smart Energetics Architecture (SEA?) and advanced laser initiation systems are on the cutting edge of technology to meet next generation requirements for energetic devices.
