Description :
When bulk raw materials must be elevated while maintaining a continuous material flow, bucket elevators should be considered. The main features bucket elevators are backstop devices, grease filed and sealed bearing housings.
Bucket elevators are classified into 3 types based on the material discharge type viz.
Centrifugal
Continuous and
Positive type discharge
The above type of elevators can be either with single or double chain or belt as the pulling member. Centrifugal discharge bucket elevators have buckets mounted at spaced intervals on engineered class chain or bucket elevator type belting. This type of elevator is used to handle bulk materials that can be picked up by spaced buckets as they pass under the foot wheel and discharged by centrifugal force as the bucket pass over the head wheel.
Continuous bucket elevators have buckets mounted in a continuous manner on engineered class chain or bucket elevator type belting. This type of elevator is used to handle bulk materials where judgment indicates slow moving operation or higher capacities than available with standard centrifugal discharge elevators that are required.
This type of elevators are specially used for handling lumpy, abrasive and friable materials or materials that would be difficult to pick up in the boot.
